FAQ

Q. WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT A CUSTOM ANI&ARI CORSET?
All ani & ari corsets are hand crafted in our Nashville, Tennessee atelier. Each custom corset order is based on a set of very specific client measurements. The client’s corset has its own individual pattern draped and drafted from scratch. This pattern process allows us to give the client a couture experience that is the ultimate in comfort and fit. We use only exceptional quality fabrics and notions for each handmade corset. Every corset is made with a combination of rigilene and coated steel boning. Our corsets are made of always two, sometimes three layers of strong fabric, including imported French cotton Coutil.

Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ANI&ARI CORSET AND ONE FROM OFF THE RACK?
We have passion about our craft and it is impossible for a corset off the rack to understand the nuances of a woman’s body.

Q. DO I HAVE TO BE IN NASHVILLE, OR COME TO NASHVILLE TO BE FIT?
No! Of course we would love to meet you in person, but we accommodate to a lot of our clients via Skype and video chatting. If this is not an option to you we do use the good old telephone. Our detailed measurement sheet allows us to sculpt a corset to your body without even seeing it.

Q. WHAT IF I LOOSE OR GAIN WEIGHT IN-BETWEEN TAKING MY MEASUREMENTS AND RECEIVING MY CORSET?
Most women’s weight fluctuates regularly. This is one of the best parts about an ani&ari corset; the lacing system – your corset will fit you if your size goes up or down minimally.

Q. ONCE MY CORSET IS COMPLETED CAN I CHANGE THE SHAPE OR FIT?
It’s pretty much impossible to take apart a completed corset. So say you change your mind on the bust line, or length, we are unable to make these changes without remaking an entire corset. So we emphasize double and triple checking your measurements and we strongly suggest getting them done at a professional seamstress to ensure the perfect fit.

Q. WHY ARE CUSTOM CORSETS SO EXPENSIVE?
Great question! The answer is that we are a small three person studio. We do all the work by hand; we don’t have pattern cutters or an animated assembly line. Each corset is a one of a kind artwork no one will ever have the same design as you. The corsets are couture not ready to wear, each one is beautifully hand crafted to basically be a sculpture of your body.

Q. COULD WE MAKE A LESS EXPENSIVE VERSION USING LESSER QUALITY FABRICS?
Unfortunately the base price has little to do with the fabric. Although it is more expensive to use a leather or heavily beaded fabric, it’s not necessarily less expensive to use something cheaper. As mentioned above, the price is mostly based on the time spent creating the custom pattern and the handwork required to make any type of corset.

Q. IF I ALREADY HAVE A FABRIC I LOVE CAN YOU USE IT TO MAKE A CORSET? HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED?
We love recycling people sentimental fabrics i.e. old wedding dresses, special gowns, and even old leather jackets. Our only requirement for fabrics is that they are not overly stretchy. We usually need about 1 1/2 yards of fabric to make a corset.

Q. ARE CORSETS COMFORTABLE?
If a corset is not custom, it is not going to be comfortable. When a corset fits your rib cage so you can breath, sucks you in at the exact soft spot at your waist and fits perfectly around your hips it is a dramatically different experience.

Q. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A CUSTOM CORSET?
We like to guarantee a client their corset two weeks after receiving measurements. If there are specific time constraints we are able to accommodate for an additional fee.
